By comparison a Honda S2000’s rear RC height is ~6.5-7.5” and our fearless leader Mike Kojima recommends front RCs around 2-4” and rear RC’s at 4-10” for most cars.

Many of these WL’s have the rear roll center right in the middle of the axle height – that’s 13.3” on a 26.6” diameter tire! That’s over 1” higher than a stock car at stock ride height and a few inches higher than a typically lowered S197. The biggest issue with WL’s are that almost all of them raise the roll center significantly over stock, even adjustable ones on their lowest position. Meanwhile WL’s are expensive, complex, heavy, and often require running stiffer springs that reduce rear grip since they bind and reduce suspension travel. PHB’s are extremely effective, cheap, light, tend to have lower roll centers, and are easy to lower the roll centers further by drilling a hole lower on the axle mount. The S197 platform’s competitive advantage is the ability to adjust cross weights on the fly without affecting the rest of the alignment, since the rear toe and camber cannot change, and that the front struts have minimal changes to alignment. Running 50/50 % cross weights is almost never an advantage on any car on any track and will lead to its own inherent asymmetric handling and tire wear relative to the needs of a given track. Racetracks are not symmetrical and adjusting cross-weights for each specific track based off the tire temps is HUGE for improving performance and lap times.
